I'd use it, assuming it was PayPal.

Probably the former, assuming obvious mailouts so that one can detect
if something has gone haywire. The latter is fine since it's an easy
way to put a cap on what's reasonable, while still not needing
babysitting.

Though: Pipelining (or whatever else to make restores faster with high
latency) is much higher on my user priority. Adding funds is a very
minor thing for me.
