To follow up on that: I personally have three types of backed-up data.

1) private and/or frequently modified: backed up with Tarsnap

2) non-private and not changing: mostly vacation photos, "backed up" on google
(because they're publicly-viewable anyway!)

3) private and not changing: mostly (non-copyleft) MP3s, which I obviously
can't store on a publicly-viewable location due to copyright law.  I just keep
a local backup on my own network.  So if a meteor hit my apartment, I'd lose
them.  But at least my important data and cat pictures are safe!


Even if you decide that Tarsnap isn't suitable to back up all your data, it
might be worth considering it for a portion of your data.
