The last line and the previous error show this operation didn't complete
successfully. Additionally, the "This archive" line shows the total size
of the new archive is significantly smaller than you were expecting.
You should have stopped here.

No, you understand fine. The "rename" (actually, it was a copy) failed
and you then deleted the original. So you will have lost any data in the
original archive that wasn't in the copy.
Now, why this error occured in the first place I don't know. I don't
understand what the error means. Hopefully Colin, or someone else, can
clear that up.
