Granted, finding stderr from cron jobs can be awkward.
No I did not get this error.
Besides my paths in fetched list of files (which were originally backed up by tarsnap-gui) were formed by chars like "§ ¶ ¬" etc.
The one done by my cron env (before I set LANG) converted those same file names to octal i.e the way FAQ example shows.
