HEADS UP: tarsnap server-side changes
Hi all,
I'm going to be making some changes to the Tarsnap server soon which should
improve scalability and performance. One of the changes involves making the
server code more aggressive about dropping connections to clients -- letting
the client reconnect (which it will do automatically) instead of continuing
to use the same connection.
This *should* have no visible effects on Tarsnap users, but it's just possible
that people will see more "Connection lost... reconnecting" warnings; in such
cases the Tarsnap client should be able to reconnect promptly, so even if this
occurs it should not cause Tarsnap to fail.
In the unlikely case that you do encounter any problems, please let me know
promptly so that I can make sure these changes aren't responsible (or revert
to the old server code if necessary).
Thanks,
