I'm getting 'unrecognized archive' messages after a system re-boots (via a cron job).

What command are you running, and what's the exact error message?

Seems like there's a partially create archive that is not consistent?

I suspect there's something I should do first with tarsnap before shutdown to avoid this, but haven't figured it out.
(Naively assumed tarsnap would handle the shutdown signal,....)

Different systems kill processes in different ways on shutdown. But Tarsnap
shouldn't end up in a mess it can't get out of -- at worst it will leave
behind a partial transaction which gets cleaned up the next time you create
or delete an archive.
